Using Enemas is it good or bad?

Most often, enemas are used as a solution for those suffering from constipation. Sometimes, however, people use enemas as a way to "clean out" their colons. Sometimes medical exams have to be performed, such as colonoscopies, where it is necessary to clean out the colon to the point that it can be easily viewed. laxatives, and/or enemas may be used in these cases.

Enemas may be used on child

ren as well as adults. They can be purchased ready-to-use without a prescription in adult or pediatric size. Enemas can be beneficial if they are used when needed and not in excess.

First of all, people show know when they are constipated and when they aren't. Constipation is defined as having less than three bowel movements per week. Every person does not have a bowel movement every day and some have two or three daily. Either of these is normal since we all are different. If you have three or more bowel movements a week, then you shouldn't be treating yourself for constipation.

Some people put off having bowel movements because they don't want to go to the bathroom somewhere besides their own homes. Children often put off the urge to go when they are doing something they enjoy and don't want to stop. This habit of ignoring the urge to go can not only lead to constipation, it can cause you to  stop having the urge.

Over use of enemas can also cause you to lose the urge to go. If you let your body get addicted to enemas, it will let them take over. You will no longer get the urge when you need to have a bowel movement and, in fact, the muscles will lose strength.

Enemas are meant to be a temporary solution to a temporary problem with constipation. Using in excess as some people do to clean out the colon can cause an imbalance of electrolytes and some of the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

Since a lack of fiber in the diet is often the cause of constipation, you should consider altering your diet before you start a regular regimen with enemas. Colon cleansing kits use fiber to "flush out" dried fecal matter because it is what keeps waste moving through the colon and keeps it clean normally.

If you do find that you need to use an enema, use them in moderation. They are a relief when you do need them, but downright dangerous if you don't.
